Running backs are back!

I laugh my butt off every time I here people talk about the position being devalued in the NFL. They say, there’s no reason to get a running back in the first round when you can get one in the sixth round.” That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard as that running backs like Marshawn Lynch, that can carry you to the Super Bowl, get picked in the first round like Lynch was.

The people that say things like that forget that Tom Brady was picked in the sixth round and Tony Romo was undrafted. It wasn’t that the position that was devalued, the superior athletes with good size were simply playing another position. You need to run the ball in Decemember and January to win so a special running back is necessary.

And Todd Gurley is so special, he tore his ACL last year and still got picked in the top 10. And the St. Louis Rams are the smart to do so because the whole NFC West plays defense and the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks run the ball well. The Rams already have the defensive part down and Nick Foles at quarterback but Gurley give the Rams their version of “Beast Mode.”

Gurley has a are blend of speed and power, showing balance through contact to shred arm tackles. That speed he has will take to the house once he gets a step on the defense. He also understands running the football, pressing line of scrimmage first to set up cut-back runs. He had only three fumbles in 510 carries in college, catches the ball well and can block so he’s ready to go right away.

His medicals checked out too.
