Good for the Detroit Lions!
They selected guard Laken Tomlinson witht he No. 28 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. The Lions need to keep pressure out of quarterback Mattew Stafford’s face and for goodness sake, run the ball to take pressure of of him. So it’s a good things the Lions picked Tomlinson because he can do all of the above.
In the running game, he is a road grader that generates a lot of power through his hips and lower-body. And that same power in his lower body allows him to drop and anchor against bull rushers. Tomlinson is also intelligent, seeing and responding quickly to stunts and twist games up front.
He didn’t allow a sack over the last two years of his college career so Stafford will be safe under his watch. And yes, you can plug him in right away and play him as he is as ready as they come for the pro game. It’s going to be interesting to see how much the Lions run the ball going forward.
