The Pittsburgh Steelers selected outside linebacker Alvin Dupree with pick No. 22 in the 2015 NFL Draft. If you’re a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and know about Dupree, this pick doesn’t surprise you at all because he is the Steelers’ type of guy. Plus the Sun is setting on the great career of James Harrison and Jason Worilds suddenly retired.
The Steelers like their linebackers big and at 6’3″, 270 pounds, Dupree is that. At the same time, he is an amazing athlete with an incredible 42-inch vertical leap and 4.56 40 at the combine. With the size he has comes outstanding power to toss tight ends around at will too.
Thats gives him the ability to be a top-notch edge-setter when playing against the run. He can also drop into space and play some zone even thought he won’t be asked to do much of that in Blitzburgh. Dupree is the perfect fit here as he fits the scheme and identity of what the Steelers are with all that physicality.
And he’s ready to go in and have the immediate impact the Steelers need him to have in 2015.
