No Worries About Miami Dolphins’ No. 14 Overall

In 2014, the Miami Dolphins went 8-8, the second straight year, finishing their football season at .500. But there was plenty to for the Dolphins to be excited about and build on for the future. The offensive line still has a ways to go but improved enough for quarterback Ryan Tannehill to have a career year.

Tannehill completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 4,045 yards and 27 touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 92.8. The defense improved, climbing up to No. 12 in the NFL from No. 21 in 2013. Then this offseason, they improved the defense with dominant defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh in free agency.

They got rid of locker room cancer Mike Wallace and replaced him with team friendly deep threat in Kenny Stills. After losing tight end Charles Clay, the Dolphins said, “No. problem.” and signed Jordan Cameron. The running game should improve this year too as they stole running back Jay Ajayi in the fifth round.

The Dolphins even got a steal at No. 14 overall in receiver DeVante Parker, a top-3 receiver prospect. And Parker showed his ability to snatch footballs out of the air right away in rookie minicamp and OTAs. All this coming when Super Bowl Champion and division rival New England Patriots don’t have any corners.

But then, many thought there was cause for concern for the Dolphins and their 2015 No. 14 overall pick. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday that Parker had undergone foot surgery. He is, however, expected to be ready for the season opener against the Washington Redskins.

This is the same foot that caused Parker to miss part of his senior season at Louisville after needing foot surgery. The surgery was performed to replace the screw Parker had inserted last year. Parker collaborated with his agent Jimmy Gould, his parents and the Dolphins on the decision to undergo the surgery.

The procedure was reportedly precautionary and if it were the regular season, he’d be playing this week.

So if you’re a Dolphins fan, relax, they’re going to he playoffs this year.
