The Chicago Bears spent their No. 7 overall pick on receiver Kevin White to line him up opposite Alshon Jeffries. With Brandon Marshall gone via trade, White is going into his rookie season with high expectations. ESPN’s Jeff Dickerson, who has been in Chicago to watch some of the Bears’ OTAs, says White is “hard to miss on the field .”

His combination of 6’3″ size, enormous wingspan and 4.35 40 speed really showed up an Bears OTA’s. Dickerson isn’t the only one with high praise for White as offensive coordinator Adam Gase likes what he sees too. Gase told the ESPN.com, “He was outstanding,” Gase said. “He could tell you exactly what the checks were, what him and the quarterback, what page they were on.

“It was pretty impressive when he came in the building. We really like what he brought to the table, and we look for specific routes, and when we see one or two things, we know they can do the entire tree, so his speed, his body control, the way that he bursts off the ball, all those things we really liked.”

White, for his part, feels like he’s starting to get this NFL thing down as he settles into a new offense. He told Dickerson,  I’m a lot more comfortable now. Day 1, everything was happening a lot faster. It’s slowing down just a bit now.”

If the Bears are to have a chance in the NFC North, White has to continue to progress the way he is so far.
