Baltimore Ravens Look Like They Made a Good Pick

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has one of the biggest arms in all of football. And with such an arm, the Ravens figure they need to put one of the fastest receivers in football with him. Such a player would protect the running game they have with Justin Forsett and open up underneath routes as well.

So with the 26th overall pick in the NFL Draft, the Ravens selected speedster Breshad Perriman. And being a receiver, not as big of a contact position, was able to show right away in OTAs and minicamps that it was a good pick. He displayed his deep speed in team drills and caught a long touchdown pass while surrounded by defenders he elevated over.

Offensive coordinator Marc Trestman told KTVZ.com of the 6’2″, 212-pound Perriman, “What we saw on tape is what we are getting. We really liked what we saw on tape, obviously. And what we’re getting is a guy who is continually improving. He has a good understanding of the game. He’s not just a fast guy, he’s a smart guy.

“He is going to learn how to use patience and use other aspects of playing the position, his size, his hand speed, to get off the line of scrimmage. So that’s really awesome to see that he’s a quick learner, and he’s catching the ball and making plays just like we saw him do on tape.”

He father Brett Perriman, was a receiver in the NFL in the ’90s so he’s been taught to a degree. So if he continues to learn the way Trestman previously described, the sky is the limit for him. And I don’t mean down the line, I mean he makes a big, immediate impact, the kind the Ravens need to survive in the AFC North.
