Kansas City Chiefs Like What They See From Marcus Peters

Cornerback Marcus Peters is so talented, he was a first-round draft pick even after getting kick off his college football team. If he didn’t have that drama attached to him, he may have been the first corner selected in the draft. On tape, he is the best corner in the draft but the 4.31 Trae Waynes ran may have ultimately got him pick first anyway.
Either way, he surely would have gone sooner than No. 18 overall but the Kansas City Chiefs are happy to have the corner they need. The Chiefs haven’t seen him in about a month because NFL rules prohibit players from practicing when their college’s academic term is ongoing. But despite being away for about a month, he was very impressive in coverage a few days ago.
He was working with the starting nickel defense Tuesday in the Chief a three-day minicamp. It was highlighted by a pass intended for speedster Chris Conley he got a break on and deflected. Peters surely didn’t look like a player who hadn’t practiced with the Chiefs in a month.
He said he worked out at his old high school and had little contact with his new teammates and coaches. He told ESPN, “I kept in touch, but they were dealing with (offseason practice) and stuff so it wasn’t a lot,” Peters said. “I took all the information I had when I was here and just kept studying.”
This is good for the Chiefs who have really needed a corner since losing Brandon Flowers.
