Former Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden is rejuvenated by his move to the Dallas Cowboys. He told the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, “It’s great to be in Dallas. I’m looking forward to getting on the field with those guys and doing great things this year. … Definitely exciting. I tell everybody I feel like a rookie all over again.

After three consecutive horrible seasons, McFadden is looking to show he still has that burst through the second level. For that, it takes holes that he didn’t have in Oakland that he’ll have in Dallas.  He said, “I just want to go out there, stay healthy and run the ball the way I know I can run the ball.”

McFadden knows how to run the ball straight and fast so he’s a perfect fit for the Cowboys. He needs those huge holes their offensive line opens up because he’s not one to make a defender miss. But when you get him to the second level, he’s a threat to go all the way with his blinding speed.

When healthy, he’s a better version of the same type of runner Demarco Murray is because of the speed. McFadden has played at MVP level in 2011 until he was injured so something like that could happen in Dallas. When you have the type of offensive line the Cowboys have running backs are much more likely to stay healthy so that bodes well for McFadden.

McFadden had hamstring issues for a couple of weeks but now, he says his offseason work is “doing great.”

The Seattle Seahawks better watch out if McFadden stays healthy.
