Since DeVante Parker is on the PUP list, we move on to San Diego Chargers No. 15 overall Melvin Gordon. The Chargers missed the playoffs by one game last year and one of the main problems was their 30th ranked running game. Improving it would give quarterback Philip Rivers all the help he needs to make the Chargers a bonafide contender.

It’s been a few years since we’ve seen a running back taken in the first round but like Gurley at No. 10, Gordon is special. His receiving skills still need work but as a runner, he’s already what the team needs. Mike McCoy, his position coach, sees the immediate impact he’ll have and likes what Gordon is showing in training camp.

After practice a couple of days ago, he told USA Today, “He showed today that he’s going to only get more and more comfortable as we go on in how they are going to block things up front and the style of running game we want to have here. But he’s a very talented player and we’re fortunate to have him.”
