Pharoh Cooper is an athlete trying to learn the wide receiver position. South Carolina has been creative in finding ways to get the ball in Cooper’s hands including having him play quarterback on read-option plays. Cooper needs to show more wide-receiver relevant skills in order to gain steam as a prospect.
The first thing he needs to work on is consistently catching the football away from his body. Too often, Cooper allows the ball into his chest which results in drops and limits yard after catch potential. This is part of the development process where Cooper needs to show that he’s a natural pass catcher.

Cooper’s route-running also needs a lot of work. He tends to round off his routes and also struggles locating the open zones in the defense. Improvement in this area comes with experience and learning to read defenses.
Overall, this is a prospect who has potential thanks to his athleticism but needs time to learn the wide receiver position. He’s in the 6th or 7th round range at this point in his career.
