Michigan State’s Jack Conklin is an experienced and talented offensive line prospect. He currently lines up at left tackle but could face a move inside to guard in the NFL . However, he has an opportunity this year to show improved foot speed and ability to hold up in space.

Conklin’s best attribute is his run blocking where he shows a nasty streak and the power to moved defenders off the ball. His commitment to gaining inside hands and keeping his legs moving also help him open running lanes. Conklin’s dominant run-blocking ability is one of the reasons why I love him at the guard position.

The other reason is that Conklin isn’t the most fluid athlete and struggles working in space. NFL pass rushers will be able to exploit his issues changing direction.

Even if he’s forced to move inside to guard, Conklin is still a first-round prospect with the potential to be a dominant in-line player. He may lack the fluidity to play left tackle but he’d rate as an above average athlete at the guard spot.
