The 2016 NFL Draft is going to offer teams in need of Safety help more options than what they saw in the 2015 draft. Last year, four safeties were selected in the first two rounds with Damarious Randall since shifting to cornerback.

Others such as Landon Collins, Jaquiski Tartt and Adrian Amos have seen the field but have gone through ups and downs. The 2016 group should offer a more instant impact as well as high-end upside. This is also a versatile class with a mixture of big hitters and solid coverage safeties.

Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey is getting most of the hype thanks to his combination size, athleticism and instincts. He’s an interesting prospect because Florida State uses him at multiple positions including cornerback and in the slot.

Ramsey’s top competition is Ohio State’s Vonn Bell who is an excellent coverage safety excelling at working the backend of the defense. Bell features excellent ball skills and the instincts to drive on the ball to tally interceptions.

Duke’s Jeremy Cash is another high-end safety prospect who should come off the board early in the 2016 draft. He’s a big hitter who excels at playing near the line of scrimmage. Cash is a proven playmaker in that he routinely generates fumbles, sacks the quarterback and disrupts routes.

The depth of this safety class is also one of the reasons this group is so strong. Players such as Miami’s Deon Bush, Kentucky’s AJ Stamps, Boise State’s Darian Thompson and Ole Miss’s Tony Connor all have a chance to make an early impact at the next level.
