No. 3: Jared Goff

Yes, five interceptions against the Utah Utes later, Cal quarterback Jared Goff is in the top three. I had him at No. 1 at first but had to drop him only because I always thought it was a close call. The bottom line is he’s going to be one of the three quarterbacks picked in the first round based on what he’s shown.

And what he’s shown is he has a strong arm, not a big arm with plenty of touch and accuracy. He’s also shown he’s a pretty good athlete that can run a little bit when the situation calls for him to do so. But he will have to add a few pounds to his lanky 6’4″ frame to take the big hits he’ll take in the NFL.

I also have to give him credit for being a dog and still competing, only losing by six while throwing five picks against Utah. But at the same time, I have to knock him down a couple of pegs because of his decision-making. Not all five of his interceptions were his fault but enough of them were as he threw into double-coverage.
