Projecting the 2016 NFL Draft Order: Week 6

facebooktwitterreddit

Things are starting to get really interesting as we enter the 6th week of the NFL season. We have some teams that are dominating the league such as the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers.

Other teams like the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars look a notch below the rest of the teams in the league. I’m sure there are Houston and Jacksonville fans are starting to look at the talent available in the 2016 NFL Draft.

This week’s projected NFL Draft order is again based off the updated ESPN power rankings with a playoff scenario included.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4)- Gus Bradley needs to start looking over his shoulder a little bit as he is likely coaching for his job at this point.

2. Detroit Lions (0-5)- Things in Detroit are starting to spiral out of control with little hope on the horizon.

3. Houston Texans (1-4)- The Texans might be the most disappointing team in the NFL. We knew the quarterback position would have problems but the defensive struggles are a surprise.

4. Miami Dolphins (1-3)- New head coach Dan Campbell is hoping to change the culture but faces an up-hill battle.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3)- Solid performance by Jameis Winston mainly because he was able to rely on the running game and avoid turnovers.

6. Tennessee Titans (1-3)- Despite only having 1 win, the Titans are playing solid football and will surprise a few people this year.

7. New Orleans Saints (1-4)- It’s starting to look like we could see some major changes in New Orleans this offseason.

8. San Francisco 49ers (1-4)- The 49ers’ chances to win games depends heavily on their ability to establish a running game. Unfortunately, they have struggled to find consistency in this area.

9. Chicago Bears (2-3)- Chicago is starting to turn their solid play into wins. John Fox and company are putting together a great game plan that has instilled some confidence in this group.

10. Baltimore Ravens (1-4)- Things are starting to get really ugly in Baltimore and it’s going to take a major adjustment to turn things around. The Ravens’ playoff hopes are very grim—especially with the Bengals and Steelers playing so well.

11. Oakland Raiders (2-3)- The Raiders have suffered back-to-back losses that have to sting. They had a chance to win both games and put themselves in solid position for a playoff run.

12. Washington Redskins (2-3)- Tell me if you heard this story before—Washington looses game thanks to a Kirk Cousins interception. The lack of talent at the quarterback position is really holding this team back.

13. Cleveland Browns (2-3)- Never thought I’d see Josh McCown light up the Baltimore Ravens’ defense for 457 passing yards.

14. Kansas City Chiefs (1-4)- Things in Kansas City went from bad to worse with the news Jamaal Charles’ torn ACL. The last thing this team could afford to lose was a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball.

15. Dallas Cowboys (2-3)- Brandon Weeden should be worried about his starting job because the Cowboys can’t afford many more losses if they hope to stick in the playoff hunt.

16. St. Louis Rams (2-3)- Nick Foles buckled under the pressure of having to keep pace with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Good news is Todd Gurley looks like a beast.

17. Minnesota Vikings (2-2)- Minnesota has a chance to come off their bye week on a roll by facing the reeling Kansas City Chiefs.

18. Philadelphia Eagles (2-3)- The running game finally got going against New Orleans averaging 5.5 yards per carry. Sam Bradford’s interception total is starting to climb and should be a concern for Philadelphia.

19. San Diego Chargers (2-3)- The injuries along the offensive line are starting to take its toll on the San Diego Chargers playoff hopes.

20. New York Jets (3-1)- Sheldon Richardson returns to the lineup to help an already dominant New York Jets defense.

21. Indianapolis Colts (3-2)- Andrew Luck is expected to return to the lineup this week; but is that really going to change things? Matt Hasselbeck was more than serviceable these past two weeks.

22. New York Giants (3-2)- Despite their poor start, the New York Giants are in the driver’s seat in the NFC East.

23. Buffalo Bills (3-2)- Buffalo continues to play inconsistent football looking great one week and vulnerable the next.

24. Seattle Seahawks (2-3)- Seattle’s loss this past weekend was more about running into an extremely talented Cincinnati Bengals team on the road than internal issues.

25. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2)- Mike Vick is doing what is asked of him by keeping the Steelers in the playoff hunt until Ben Roethlisberger returns.

26. Carolina Panthers (4-0)- I’m sure Cam Newton appreciated the chance to rest up during the bye week.

27. Arizona Cardinals (4-1)- The Arizona Cardinals offense is a complete nightmare for opposing defenses to stop.

28. Cincinnati Bengals (5-0)- The Bengals are on a major hot streak and playing arguably the best football in the NFL. They are winning games in different ways including blowouts, come from behind wins and hard fought games.

29. Denver Broncos (5-0)- We are 5 games into the Gary Kubiak era in Denver and Peyton Manning still doesn’t look comfortable. The defense can carry this team through the regular season but the Broncos will need Peyton to improve if they hope to make a long playoff run.

30. Atlanta Falcons (5-0)- Atlanta is winning games thanks to their overall balance which includes a high-flying passing attack, sound running game and improving defense.

31. Green Bay Packers (5-0)- The Packers continue to roll and appear to be the class of the NFC.

Pick forfeited- New England Patriots (4-0)- Tom Brady is on a historic pace and could top the 5,000 passing yard threshold.
