Projecting the 2016 NFL Draft Order: Week 7

Things are starting to get really interesting as we enter the 7th week of the NFL season. We have some teams that are dominating the league such as the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers.

Other teams like the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars look a notch below the rest of the teams in the league. I’m sure there are Tennessee and Jacksonville fans are starting to look at the talent available in the 2016 NFL Draft.

This week’s projected NFL Draft order is again based off the updated ESPN power rankings with a playoff scenario included.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5)- Time is running out for Gus Bradley, but at least Blake Bortles is showing some real promise.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3)- Let’s see if Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers’ offense can find some consistency.

3. Tennessee Titans (1-4)- The overall talent on the roster just isn’t there for this team to win a lot of games. This season is all about development of the young players such as Marcus Mariota, Kendall Wright and Dorial Green-Beckham.

4. Kansas City Chiefs (1-5)- Alex Smith is really struggling to move the football as opposing defenses just don’t fear him. It might be time for the Chiefs to consider a change at the position in order to produce more explosive plays.

5. Baltimore Ravens (1-5)- It’s unheard of for a Baltimore Ravens’ defense to allow 27 points per game. This team just isn’t the same when it can’t rely on its defense.

6. Cleveland Browns (2-4)- The Cleveland Browns struggles running the football is mind boggling because of the talent along the offensive line. Josh McCown is going to come down to earth and when he does things will get ugly for the Browns.

7. Houston Texans (2-4)- Bill O’Brien needs to stick with Brian Hoyer and stop the quarterback madness. This team won’t get any offensive rhythm without stability at the most important position.

8. Chicago Bears (2-4)- Chicago had every opportunity to secure an important win against the Detroit Lions but failed to capitalize. The Bears could surprise some people down the stretch especially if Alshon Jeffery can stay healthy.

9. Detroit Lions (1-5)- I’m sure the fans are relieved to know they won’t have to suffer through another winless season. However, there is still very little to be excited about in Detroit.

10. Oakland Raiders (2-3)- The Raiders really needed their bye week to regroup after two tough losses. However, they’re going to struggle shutting down the red-hot Philip Rivers this week.

11. Washington Redskins (2-4)- How many times can Kirk Cousins turn the ball over before he is taken out of the lineup? At this point he’s hurting his team more than he’s helping.

12. Miami Dolphins (2-3)- It’s only one game but the Dolphins did look like a different team under Dan Campbell. I love seeing Lamar Miller actually touching the football.

13. New Orleans Saints (2-4)- Drew Brees used home-field advantage and a short week of preparation to knock off the undefeated Atlanta Falcons. Despite the win, the Saints have an uphill climb to get into the playoff discussion.

14. San Francisco 49ers (2-4)- The 49ers are going to have an uneven season with just as many ups as downs. This is because Colin Kaepernick’s play follows that same track.

15. St. Louis Rams (2-3)- Todd Gurley is probably licking his chops with the Cleveland Browns and their poor rush defense coming to town.

16. Buffalo Bills (3-3)- Things are starting to get a little contentious in Buffalo with Mario Williams expressing some frustration with Rex Ryan’s defense. They got to get things back on track in a hurry before it spins out of control.

17. Dallas Cowboys (2-3)- Dallas is very lucky that the rest of the NFC East has no interest in winning the division. Things are playing out nicely for the Cowboys to make a run when Tony Romo returns.

18. Minnesota Vikings (3-2)- It hasn’t been pretty but the Vikings have put themselves squarely in the playoff race. At some point they are going to need to open the offense up a little where we could see the emergence of Stefon Diggs play an important role.

19. New York Giants (3-3)- There are times it’s absolutely unbearable to watch the New York Giants play football. Turnovers and mental mistakes have plagued this team for several years.

20. San Diego Chargers (2-4)- Philip Rivers is on a torrid pace that doesn’t figure to slow down thanks to the Chargers problems running the ball. The issue is that despite Rivers’ hot start San Diego is just 2-4.

21. Seattle Seahawks (2-4)- Things are starting to get critical for the Seattle Seahawks. They could find themselves outside of the playoff race with a few more losses.

22. Indianapolis Colts (3-3)- Another week and another media storm surrounding the coaching staff. There are a lot of distractions keeping this team from righting the ship.

23. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2)- Landry Jones had a nice second half but this team still needs Ben Roethlisberger back in the lineup as soon as possible. Jones has always been turnover prone and that tendency will surface with more passing attempts.

24. Philadelphia Eagles (3-3)- Chip Kelly needs to start considering a move at the quarterback position. Sam Bradford looked horrible against the Giants with three interceptions and several under-thrown balls.

25. New York Jets (4-1)- Chris Ivory’s health could be the key factor on how far this team can go.

26. Atlanta Falcons (5-1)- The Falcons suffered a tough loss to the Saints but turnovers played a major role in the defeat. This is still an extremely talented team with the potential to make some noise in the playoffs.

27. Carolina Panthers (5-0)- Carolina is winning games because of a perfect blend of excellent coaching, strong quarterback play and defensive stability.

28. Cincinnati Bengals (6-0)- This team is built to win now and in the future. With their depth, they might be one of the few teams capable of overcoming a major injury.

29. Arizona Cardinals (4-2)- West coast teams typically struggle when asked to travel cross country, but losing to the Steelers without Ben Roethlisberger is disappointing. It hurts more given the history between Bruce Arians and Pittsburgh.

30. Denver Broncos (6-0)- I still don’t want to believe that Peyton Manning is done, but things are not looking good. The Broncos can keep winning regular season games on the back of their defense but they’ll need Manning to improve if they hope to make noise in the playoffs.

31. Green Bay Packers (6-0)- The only concern for the Packers at this point is health with Randall Cobb and Eddie Lacy banged up. This week’s bye came at a perfect time for them to heal.

Pick forfeited- New England Patriots (5-0)-The New England Patriots look absolutely unstoppable right now which spells trouble for the rest of the league.
