Cleveland Browns (2-5)

Josh McCown is playing good football for the Cleveland Browns, but at age 36 he only has a few more years left in the tank. The team is saying all the right things but it appears that they have little confidence in Johnny Manziel. His continued off-field issues have severely hampered his future with the team.

It’ll be tough for Cleveland fans swallow having to use yet another 1st round pick on a quarterback but it’s what this franchise needs. This team will continue to dwell in the bottom half of the NFL until it gets its quarterback position settled.

They should be in range to target my top-ranked quarterbacks in California’s Jared Goff and Michigan State’s Connor Cook. Goff is the stronger prospect and will get plenty of consideration to be the first player drafted. This means if the Browns want him they might have to orchestrate a trade to get the No. 1 pick.

Cleveland could also look at Cook who is physically gifted and possesses strong leadership skills. He’s a little underrated because Michigan State doesn’t run an offense that provides Cook with the opportunity to put up big numbers.

If things take a drastic turn and Manziel shows something in the final weeks of the season Cleveland would still be wise to add another quarterback to the mix. I’m sure there are plenty of people in Ohio who would love to see Cardale Jones in a Browns uniform.
