Projecting the 2016 NFL Draft Order: Week 8
By Jon Dove
This week’s projected 2016 NFL Draft order is again based off the updated ESPN power rankings with a playoff scenario included.
1. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5)- The Jaguars have to feel good about finishing strong and finally pulling off a close victory. However, it wasn’t encouraging to see them give up a big lead and allow the Buffalo Bills back in the game.
2. Detroit Lions (1-6)- Firing Joe Lombardi might be just the start of the moves in Detroit. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Teryl Austin running the show by the end of the season.
3. Tennessee Titans (1-5)- The Titans are putting themselves in prime position to land the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
4. Houston Texans (2-5)- The Houston Texans are playing ugly football and it might start costing some people their jobs.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4)- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have to be extremely disappointed in the way they finished the game against the Washington Redskins. This team needs to learn out to hang onto a lead a win football games. On a positive note, Jameis Winston continues to take positive steps in his development.
6. San Francisco 49ers (2-5)- Things appear like they will get much worse before they get better. The recent report of an issue in the locker room between Colin Kaepernick and his teammates is concerning.
7. Baltimore Ravens (1-6)- The Ravens are actually in danger of finishing in the basement of the AFC North—behind the Cleveland Browns!
8. Chicago Bears (2-4)- Let’s see if the Bears can build some momentum off the bye week with a healthy Alshon Jeffery.

9. Cleveland Browns (2-5)- It has been fun watching Josh McCown put up strong numbers in an undermanned Cleveland Browns offense, but it’s time to look towards the future. The Browns need to figure out what they have in Johnny Manziel and that won’t happen while he’s on the bench.
10. Washington Redskins (3-4)- Despite their uneven play, the Redskins are actually still in the thick of the NFC East race. The offense should get some help after the bye week with DeSean Jackson expected to return to the lineup.
11. Kansas City Chiefs (2-5)- Kansas City struck it lucky this weekend by getting to face a Landry Jones led Steelers team at home. The Chiefs still don’t have much hope to earn a playoff berth this year.
12. San Diego Chargers (2-5)- It’s hard to get a pulse on the San Diego Chargers because their performances are so up and down. They need to go back to the drawing board because the current plan of attack isn’t working.
13. Dallas Cowboys (2-4)- The Dallas Cowboys players on the field aren’t handling the pressure and are starting to crack. Greg Hardy’s sideline antics so that everyone is aware that the outcome of the season might ride on the next several games.
14. Buffalo Bills (3-4)- The wheels are rapidly falling off the Rex Ryan wagon after a disappointing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Buffalo’s playoff hopes are looking grimmer by the week.
15. New Orleans Saints (3-4)- New Orleans is on a two-game winning streak and are winning thanks to a strong running game. It’s important to note that the defense is also playing much better and showing some promise.
16. Oakland Raiders (3-3)-This past week’s win against the San Diego Chargers was huge for the Raiders. It showed they are a contender within the division and Derek Carr is one of the better young quarterbacks in the league.
17. Philadelphia Eagles (3-4)- It would sure be nice if Philadelphia had some receivers who could catch the football—like DeSean Jackson or Jeremy Maclin.
18. Miami Dolphins (3-3)- Dan Campbell is getting a ton of credit for Miami’s turnaround which is based off small adjustments. The Dolphins are finally looking to get Lamar Miller the football and allowing the defense to play to their personnel.
19. St. Louis Rams (3-3)- Todd Gurley has more than lived up to the hype, but the Rams need to be careful not to run him into the ground.
20. Minnesota Vikings (4-2)- The emergence of Stefon Diggs has been a major boost for the offense. Having a legitimate down-field threat will open things up for Adrian Peterson.
21. Indianapolis Colts (3-4)- It seems just a matter of time before we see a major shakeup in Indianapolis. This team is shockingly still in good position make the playoffs, but they were targeting a Super Bowl title heading into the season.
22. New York Giants (4-3)- The New York Giants tried everything in their power to give the Dallas Cowboys a win on Sunday. They need to find a way to establish a running game and generate pressure on the quarterback.
23. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3)- The Steelers are doing their best to keep their head above water until Ben Roethlisberger returns. However, things have gotten more interesting with the recent turnaround of the Miami Dolphins who will be alongside Pittsburgh in the wildcard race.
24. Seattle Seahawks (3-4)- Beating up the lowly San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night doesn’t do much to move the needle. This team still has several areas that still need improvement in order to get back on track.
25. New York Jets (4-2)- Despite the loss, the New York Jets made a statement to the rest of the league. This is a very talented team that could be dangerous down the stretch.
26. Atlanta Falcons (6-1)-Atlanta’s running game has been a real surprise and may be the key to sustained success.
27. Arizona Cardinals (5-2)- Arizona’s offense is an elite unit especially when Chris Johnson and the running game are firing on all cylinders.
28. Denver Broncos (6-0)- The Broncos have a solid lead in the AFC West and should turn their attention to securing home-field advantage. Unfortunately, the Bengals and Patriots look like strong candidates land that coveted advantage.
29. Carolina Panthers (6-0)- Cam Newton is having a great season, but it’s so much fun to watch Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly play football. The defense remains the most important unit on this team and best hope for a strong playoff run.
30. Cincinnati Bengals (6-0)- Will Andy Dalton come back down to earth? I’m betting this is the year the Bengals actually win a playoff game.
31. Green Bay Packers (6-0)- Green Bay got a little lucky having their bye week when Randall Cobb and Davante Adams needed the extra time to heal.
Forfeited pick-New England Patriots (6-0)- Tom Brady and the Patriots took the New York Jets best shot and came out ahead. The only concern is the lack of a running game which played an important role during last year’s Super Bowl run.
