4. Houston Texans (2-5)- Jared Goff, QB, California
The Houston Texans franchise will not get on track until they find some direction at the quarterback position. Brian Hoyer isn’t the long-term answer and should be seen only as a stop-gap solution. California’s Jared Goff is my top-rated quarterback prospect and someone with tremendous upside.
Goff has excellent size, solid arm strength and good mental makeup. He has proven throughout his career that he’s willing to stand in the pocket and make smart decisions with the football. Goff’s ability to go through his progressions to locate the open target will help his transition to the NFL.
The issue for Houston is that things appear to be spiraling out of control. Their defense was suppose to be a strength but has been a major disappointment. They are also facing the possibility of having to move on from the injury-prone Arian Foster. This team is far from one player away from competing.
