19. New York Jets- Emmanuel Ogbah, Edge, Oklahoma State
Todd Bowles is an excellent defensive coach who loves to bring pressure. He isn’t afraid to blitz anyone at anytime. However, this puts a lot of pressure on the secondary and can result in big plays.
A way to help would be by adding an edge rusher capable of generating pressure on his own. This would allow Bowles to keep more defenders in coverage.
Oklahoma State’s Emmanuel Ogbah is an intriguing prospect because he’s an elite athlete who is still developing. His length, size and quickness combination makes him a nightmare to keep out of the backfield.
Ogbah isn’t a finished product and would really benefit from working with a defensive mind like Todd Bowles. He needs to work on his overall awareness and developing a plan to attack the quarterback. With the Jets, Ogbah will have a chance to ease onto the field because New York has some depth at the position.
It’ll be fun to watch the quarterback situation play out. Ryan Fitzpatrick has done a solid job this year, but has already reached his peek. New York could sit back and see if someone falls into their laps. The quarterback prospects in this draft have fluid stock.
