24. Green Bay Packers- Leonard Floyd, DE/LB, Georgia
Georgia’s Leonard Floyd is one of the more intriguing defensive prospects eligible for the 2016 NFL Draft. He’s seen by many as an edge rusher whose value depends on his ability to get after the quarterback. However, Floyd is more versatile player capable of filling multiple roles.
Because of his athleticism, he could be a fit at any of the linebacker positions. Floyd is fluid enough to hold up in coverage and quick enough to make plays from sideline to sideline.
The Green Bay Packers have a need at inside linebacker as it’s less than ideal for them to have Clay Matthews lined up. Matthews needs to get back on the edge where he can rush the passer and wreak havoc in the backfield.
Some of Green Bay’s issues this year center on the struggles of the receiving corps. Young players like Davante Adams and Jeff Janis have failed to step up in the absence of Jordy Nelson. Adams inability to find a rhythm with Aaron Rodgers could force some offseason changes.
Green Bay’s recent success has been due to Rodgers and the play of the offense. They might find that it makes more sense to fix the offensive issues and not mess with the formula.
