Thanksgiving Football: team needs for the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers
By Jon Dove
The Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers are in different places in the standings but both could use an upgrade at different spots on the roster.
This game means a whole lot more for the Cowboys than the Panthers as one loss could knock them out of the playoff race. Dallas needs for Tony Romo and the offense to find a way to move the ball against the tough Carolina defense.
They need the offense to step up because the defensive side of the ball still has its share of problems. Dallas ranks in the middle of the pack in most defensive categories but could be looking at some major turnaround at the cornerback position.

Brandon Carr has a cap hit over $13 million which is a lot of money for an average player. It’s likely that the Cowboys cut ties with Carr and will have to replace Morris Claiborne who is schedule to be an unrestricted free agent.
The 2016 NFL draft has several intriguing cornerback prospects who are in the 1st-round mix. I have USC’s Kevon Seymour and LSU’s Tre’Davious White rated in the mid-1st round range where the Cowboys could find themselves.
I’m among the many that are surprised at how well the Panthers are playing. The defense was expected to perform well, but things didn’t look promising for the offense when Kelvin Benjamin well down.
Cam Newton is rightfully receiving MVP consideration thanks to his ability to succeed despite an average supporting cast. The Panthers need to use this offseason to bring an explosive playmaker into the mix.
TCU’s Josh Doctson would be strong addition because he’s capable of making plays down the field. It’s important to note that he’s also a well-rounded player in that he can work over the middle and run clean routes.
The Cowboys and Panthers are both focused on the playoffs but that doesn’t mean we can’t look to the future.
