14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-7)- Shon Coleman, OT, Auburn
Auburn’s Shon Coleman is a new addition to my mock drafts as I just finished his evaluation. Coleman is an elite prospect who brings athleticism and strength to the table. He’s a prototypical left tackle who can protect the edge and generate a push in the running game.
Coleman fills a need for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who need help along the offensive line. Bringing in Coleman would allow the Buccaneers to shift Donovan Smith to right tackle or guard. Smith doesn’t have the consistency or foot speed to stick at left tackle moving forward.
Tampa Bay needs to ensure the offensive line strong unit to help the development of Jameis Winston. Young quarterbacks need time in the pocket to go through their reads. Winston has shown the ability to quickly process information but he’s still slow to pull the trigger.
Another way to help a young quarterback is by establishing a reliable ground attack. Doug Martin is having a rebound season establishing himself yet again as the long-term starter. Improving the talent up front will ensure more productive years from Martin.
The Buccaneers could also target a wide receiver early in the draft. Mike Evans has struggled with drops while Vincent Jackson appears to be slowing down.
