Owners don’t want Raiders in LA

If the NFL has to help Davis in the economic gold mine he’s already in, they sure don’t want him in LA. The NFL wants someone who can bring in the high-end corporate sponsorships and celebrity endorsements out there. The money in LA isn’t from the homies-in-the-hood fans that can buy a $60 Raiders jersey but can’t buy a $60,000 seat-license.

They want who Dr. Dre and Ice Cube are today, not what they were when they were a part of NWA. Speaking of NWA, they helped give the Raiders the kind of image corporate sponsors shy away from. The NFL is after the red-carpet, glitz and glamour part of LA, not the grimy parts of it the Raiders are associated with.

The movie “Straight outta Compton” came out just in time to remind everyone and  the NFL of that. That’s another part of why Jason La Canfora of CBSSports reported that many of the NFL’s most influential owners, including some on the LA committee, don’t want the Raiders there.

If the Raiders ever really had any chance to get to LA, it was through the support Spanos has among the owners. But also according to La Canfora’s CBSSports report, staying partnered with the Raiders will ruin that support. And that would make it possible for no teams to move to LA in 2016.

That’s why the owners are trying to get Kroenke and Spanos to sit down and work something out. So don’t be surprised if and when the Chargers drop the Raiders from their stadium plan. Remember, this is the same La Canfora that told KNBR.com the Raiders will be leaving very soon.
