Several NFL coaching changes will impact the 2016 NFL Draft.
We’ve seen several high-profile coaches fired over the past few days with a couple more still on the hot seat. While each head coaching change is meaningful some have a bigger impact than others. This is especially true for the couple franchises that are replacing both the head coach and general manager.
The most interesting opening in my book is the Cleveland Browns. They plan on giving the head coach a ton of power and the ability to pick his general manager. Cleveland isn’t exactly the most attractive franchise, but there will be a few coaches intrigued by the ability to put his people in high places.
This organization doesn’t only need to make front office decisions, but also has several huge roster decisions to make. The new head coach will have a major say on whether or not Johnny Manziel is brought back or if they plan on using the No. 2 overall pick to add a new quarterback.
Chip Kelly’s run with the Philadelphia Eagles was interesting to say the least. He had some early success but his troubles communicating with his plays ultimately led to his downfall. Philadelphia is a premier job in the NFL and they’ll have plenty of options replacing Kelly.

The new head coach will need to really evaluate this roster as Kelly made several odd changes to bring guys in to fit his system. Philadelphia owns the No. 13 pick in the draft and could be in position to draft a young quarterback. This of course relies on whether or not the Eagles push to bring Sam Bradford back into the mix.
Owners of the No. 1 pick, the Tennessee Titans chose for head coach and general manager will have a chance to make a major splash. Tennessee already has a franchise quarterback, Marcus Mariota, in place which gives him some intriguing options.
There’s a possibility that a quarterback-needy team pushes to trade for the top pick in order to jump ahead of the Cleveland Browns who also need a quarterback.
The big thing to remember is that all the coaches being hired in the next few weeks will have a major impact on the offseason.
