Alex Collins, RB, Arkansas

There are several ways for a running back to find success in the NFL. This means that not every running back has the same type of running style. Arkansas’s Alex Collins is the type of runner who shows good patience and quick-twitch ability.

That quick-twitch ability means that Collins is able to get up to full speed in only a few steps. He does a great job locating the best running lane, letting his blocks develop and then exploding through the hole. His patience would create a problem for a running back that needs more space to reach his full speed.

At this point in the process, Collins is flying under the radar a little in that he isn’t getting enough hype for his potential. This is an every-down back who can grind out the tough yards and pick up big chunks.

The decreased draft value of the running back position has absolutely played a role in his lack of hype. However, Collins is a prospect capable of making an immediate impact and being the lead back for an NFL team.

He is most likely to come off the board in the 2nd or 3rd round. The Dallas Cowboys would be a logical landing spot thanks to their need at the position and Jerry Jones’ connection to Arkansas.
