California. Jared Goff. 2. player. 53.
It looks like the Cleveland Browns want to start playing “Moneyball” with new GM Paul DePodesta. If this works, Pro Football Focus will start to be used as a guide for the draft and free agency. Enter new head coach Hue Jackson, who himself uses analytics to formulate his game plans.

When hired, Jackson was asked at his press conference about his comfort level with analytics. And he seemed genuine about it when he said, “I like being cutting edge. I try to be cutting edge on offense. Eventually, everybody’s going to be doing what we’re doing.”

But the Browns don’t need analytics to know they need to draft their franchise quarterback. Organizations consistently go in the order of new GM, new head coach then new franchise quarterback. So here at No. 2 overall, the Jackson and the Browns will select Jared Goff from California.

With this pick, the Browns will definitely improve their level of play by leaps and bounds immediately. Remember, Jackson got Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco to play well in his first two years. The Browns need to address their defensive but Goff should be able to put points on the board with a few weapons and one of the best pass-blocking 0-lines in the NFL
. QB
