ILB. Notre Dame. Jaylon Smith. 1. player. 28.
The Raiders obviously won’t be picking in the top five this year, where your superstars come from. But there will be a future superstar that falls to them at No. 14 overall because of a torn ACL. Word out of South Bend is the former Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith is recovering nicely from surgery.

He is a freak athlete that’s very physical, reminding many of former San Francisco 49ers ILB Patrick Willis. Smith excels in coverage on RBs and TEs so Mack will be able to blitz from the strong side. And in the run-game, Smith is very instinctive and doesn’t miss tackles so when Mack and fellow OLB Aldon Smith set the edge, Smith will be there to make the play.

Since Smith can do it all and is known as a good leader, he will naturally be the Mike ILB, wear the helmet with the speaker, and run the defense for years to come. And as the Raiders had six of them in 2015 and will lose one to retirement, (Charles Woodson) it’s good for the Raiders to get another star as star power wins football games.
