Philadelphia Eagles

Offensive guard. Chip Kelly or not, the Eagles need to reinforce that offensive line. Retaining Lane Johnson for Jason Peters’ last run was good move but their guards are just horrid.Barbre and Gardner just aren’t cut out to be NFL starters. They were thrown into the mix because Chip Kelly waited too long to make a decision with Evan Mathis and didn’t have enough time to find a replacement.

Barrett Jones could be an option at one of the guard spots, but he’s a question mark. The Eagles need to make this a priority in the draft and free agency.

Three names to consider: Alex Boone(free agency), Spencer Drango(day 2 of the draft), Vadal Alexander(day 2 of the draft).

Safety. The entire Eagles secondary is a mess. Rowe has some talent but he looks like a project. Maxwell, Carroll, Jenkins and Thurmond could disappear tomorrow and no one would notice it on the field if they were replaced by street free agents.

With the switch to Schwartz’s wide 9/Cover-2 defense, they’re going to need defensive backs who can at least ballhawk. Since they have Rowe in place at corner, safety is the bigger need.

Jenkins could still be a transitional player and move to nickel safety in 2016 but only if they commit to getting two starting caliber players at safety for 2016.

Three names to consider: Eric Weddle(free agency), Jalen Mills(Day 2 of the draft), Will Allen(free agency).

Quarterback. The odds are that they’ll come to a short term deal with Sam Bradford. They do still have Sanchez under contract for 2016 as well. But with Chip Kelly in San Francisco needing a QB, one of these two could be headed out there as a short term solution for him.

Assuming Bradford comes back for 1-2 years, they would still need a young option at QB to eventually take over. If Bradford bolts, then it’s still the same basic plan only the Eagles would be considering drafting a young guy much earlier than in the first scenario.

In the Peterson offense, assuming that it’s much like the Chiefs’ offense was in 2015, they need a timing/rhythm thrower who has decent mobility–enough where teams have to respect his potential to run if the pass play breaks down.

Three names to consider: Kevin Hogan(day 2 of the draft), Cody Kessler(day 3 of the draft), Dak Prescott(day 3 of the draft).
