Dallas Cowboys
Running back. The Cowboys got 1000 yards from Darren McFadden, somehow, but he’s clearly not the long term answer at running back for them. He’s never been able to handle the load and he has too many carries on his body.

The boys need to go back to their success with a back in the mold of DeMarco Murray: a guy who they can give 300-350 touches to and use him as the fulcrum of the entire offense. Romo is still a top 10 quarterback, but he can’t take the pounding if defenses aren’t respectful of the run game.

Three names to consider: DeMarco Murray(cap cut), Lamar Miller(free agency), Alfred Morris(free agency).

Safety. The Cowboys are fully committed to Marnelli’s Tampa-2 defense, and why shouldn’t they be? He’s put together a very good and effective group despite a constant shuffling of talent and an inconsistent offense on the other side of the ball.

The Boys’ defensive scheme does require quality play at the safety spots and this is an issue. Barry Church and JJ Wilcox are serviceable starters at the safety spots.

A lot rides on the development on Byron Jones, but he might move to corner since he has the size one wants in a cover-2 corner.

Three names to consider: Jalen Ramsey(day 1 of the draft), Reggie Nelson(free agency), Jalen Mills(day 2 of the draft).Wide receiver. Dez Bryant is an amazing wideout. Sometimes. When healthy. And not being a headcase on the field/sidelines. Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley can have stretches of quality play but it appears that they’re never going to be consistent enough as receivers.

The Cowboys really need a guy who can take advantage of the coverage being rolled over to Dez’s side and can pick up the production when Dez is just too covered or suspended(or too busy yelling at the coaches on the sidelines).

Ideally, they would get a flanker/Y type wideout who can be a big target and keep the chains moving so that Bryant can be used to attack deeper and more often.

Three names to consider: Marvin Jones(free agency), Braxton Miller(day 2 of the draft), Tyler Boyd(day 2 of the draft).
