2016 NFL Team Needs: AFC North

In the 2010’s, the AFC North has been one of the most competitive, if not predictable divisions in football. The Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers are often fighting for the division title, with the Cleveland Browns bringing up the rear. With that level of competition, it’s important for each of these teams to nail the draft year in and year out.

Finishing 7-9 in 2014, it looked to be time for the Browns to take the next step and compete for a playoff spot. However, the Browns finished with a 3-13 record and are drafting second overall in the 2016 draft. Another new coach, and likely another new QB heading to Cleveland.

Decimated by injuries and a slow start in 2015, the Ravens limped to the finish line of disappointing 5-11 season. While Joe Flaaco, Justin Forsett, Steve Smith and Terrell Suggs were all placed on IR, they can take solace in sweeping the rival Steelers.

More from With the First Pick

Their best year since winning the AFC Championship in 1988, The Bengals won the AFC North at 12-4. If not for a late fumble and several personal foul penalties, the Bengals would have won their first playoff game since 1991 instead of losing a heart breaker to Pittsburgh.

Another year, another season where the Steelers need secondary help. There’s something calming about the predictability Pittsburgh brings. Like a James Harrison bull rush, some things get better with age. The Steelers survived several key injuries to Ben Roethlisberger, LeVeon Bell, Antonio Brown, DeAngelo Williams and Maurkice Pouncey, but couldn’t escape the Denver defense as it dominated in the playoffs.
