The 2016 NFL Draft is just days away and everyone is putting together the final version of their big board. This is especially true for every network TV analyst including Mike Mayock.

Mike Mayock is one of NFL.com’s go-to draft experts and is featured heavily on their draft-day coverage. His final big board features some surprises which should lead to some interesting discussions on Thursday night.

The first thing that jumped out to me was that it’s obvious that Mayock sees a big difference between the top two quarterback prospects. He has North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz ranked as his No. 1 overall prospect and California’s Jared Goff as his No. 10 overall prospect.

This is the first time I’ve seen anyone place Wentz at the top of their board. It’s also one of the bigger ranking differences between the two quarterbacks I’ve seen in the draft community. Mayock obviously sees Wentz as a franchise player and has no fears with the level of competition he faced in college.

Alabama’s Ryan Kelly comes in at No. 15 which is another surprise as he typically lands in the 30’s on most big boards. Kelly is a talented player with upside, but the center position just doesn’t carry as much value as other positions.

South Carolina State’s Javon Hargrave is a name to watch on day-two of the draft. Mayock has him rated at No. 54 on his board which is in line with a lot of experts. Hargrave has a ton of upside thanks to his combination of size, short-area burst and lateral quickness.

There isn’t much concern about the level of competition he faced in college because he absolutely dominated. His opponents were not only unable to move him off the line of scrimmage but also struggled to keep him from disrupting the timing of the offense. Don’t be surprised if he’s one of the first players selected in the second round.
