The Jacksonville Jaguars Depth Chart went through some major changes in the offseason thanks big-time free agency moves and a strong draft class.

The Jacksonville Jaguars depth chart is one of the most improved in the entire NFL. They are counting on new additions such as Malik Jackson, Chris Ivory and Myles Jack to help this team earn a playoff berth.

Quarterback

Starter: Blake Bortles
Backup: Chad Henne and Brandon Allen

Blake Bortles took a huge step in his development last year and the Jaguars are hoping he takes another this year. His play will be the key to this team’s playoff chances.

Running Back

Starter: Chris Ivory
3rd Down: TJ Yeldon
Backups: Denard Robinson and Jonas Gray

Chris Ivory was brought in to work on the early downs and add a physical element to the offense. However, his addition takes touches a way from TJ Yeldon who had a promising rookie season. It’ll be interesting to see how they split the carries.

Wide Reciever

Starters: Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns
Slot: Rashad Greene
Backups: Marqise Lee, Neal Sterling and Tony Washington

Allen Robinson and Hurns have emerged as one of the better young receiving duos in the league. Both are big-play threats who can attack the football at its highest point. Rashad Greene has the inside track for the No. 3 job thanks to Marqise Lee’s struggles with injuries and inconsistency.

Tight End

Starters: Julius Thomas and Marcedes Lewis
Backup: Ben Koyack

A healthy Julius Thomas could make a huge difference for this offense. He showed a glimpse of that last year when he was able to get on the field.

Left Tackle

Starter: Kelvin Beachum
Backup: Luke Joeckel

Beachum appears to have the inside track to open the season as the starting left tackle. However, he’s still recovering from a knee injury that cost him most of last season. This is Luke Joeckel’s last chance to become apart of the Jaguars future plans.

Left Guard

Starter: Mackenzy Bernadeau
Backups: Luke Joeckel and Jeff Linkenbach

Bernadeau is set as the starter, but there are reports that Joeckel will get some snaps at left guard.

Center

Starter: Brandon Linder
Backup: Luke Bowanko

Brandon Linder is making the transition to center and is already building a strong relationship with Blake Bortles. His ability to make this move helps the Jaguars get the 5 best offensive linemen on the field.

Right Guard

Starter: AJ Cann
Backups: Luke Bowanko, Jeff Linkenbach and Kadeem Edwards

AJ Cann is an underrated player who has taken steps forward in his development each year. With Bowanko and Linkenbach, the Jaguars have good depth at the guard position.

Right Tackle

Starter: Jermey Parnell
Backups: Luke Joeckel and Josh Wells

Jermey Parnell is locked in as the starting right tackle and is counted on to set a physical tone.

Defensive End

Starters: Malik Jackson and Dante Fowler Jr.
Backups: Jared Odrick, Chris Smith and Yannick Ngakoue

Jacksonville has tremendous depth along the defensive line as well as talented starters. The addition of Malik Jackson instantly makes this group more disruptive. Many are forgetting about Dante Fowler, but his ability to get after the quarterback will quickly make them remember his upside.

Defensive Tackle

Starters: Sen’Derrick Marks and Roy Miller
Backups: Tyson Alualu, Mike Bennett, Jared Odrick and Sheldon Day

It’ll be interesting to see how this rotation shakes out as each one of these players could emerge as a starter. Marks is the most talented of the group but has dealt with injury problems the past two years.

Outside Linebacker

Starters: Telvin Smith and Myles Jack
Backups: Dan Skuta, Jordan Tripp and Tyrone Holmes

More from With the First Pick

There isn’t a more athletic outside linebacker duo in the entire NFL. Smith and Jack can cover a lot of ground while making plays sideline to sideline. Both are also strong coverage linebackers which is very important in today’s NFL.

Inside Linebacker

Starter: Paul Posluszny
Backups: Myles Jack and Joplo Bartu

Posluszny is back as the starting inside linebacker and one of the leaders of the defense.

Cornerback

Starters: Davon House and Prince Amukamara
Nickelback: Dwayne Gratz
Backups: Jalen Ramsey, Aaron Colvin and Demetrius McCray

The biggest thing to watch at cornerback is the health of Jalen Ramsey. If he’s healthy he will get a ton of action working in the slot. Overall, this is a solid group with some depth.

Safety

Starters: Tashaun Gipson and Jonathan Cyprien
Backups: Josh Evans, Craig Loston, James Sample and Earl Wolff

Gipson was brought in during free agency to add some consistency and playmaking to the safety position. Cyprien has failed to live up to his promise and could lose his starting job with a poor start to the season.
