The Seattle Seahawks Depth Chart looks stronger than ever thanks to the emergence of several young players.
This year’s draft went a long way to replenishing the Seattle Seahawks Depth Chart which now had depth across the board. The offensive line is still a question mark, but they did bring in some younger players to compete.
Quarterback
Starter: Russell Wilson
Backups: Trevone Boykin
Russell Wilson is a stud player and now the true face of the offense with Marshawn Lynch out the door. Seattle needs to find a veteran backup as things could get ugly if Trevone Boykin is forced into the lineup.
Running Back
Starter: Thomas Rawls
3rd Down: CJ Prosise
Backups: Alex Collins, Christine Michael and Zac Brooks
Thomas Rawls looked really good last year until his injury derailed his momentum. Seattle was smart to use the draft to add talented an options. CJ Prosise is a versatile player capable of gaining yards on the ground and and in the passing game.
Alex Collins is a tough physical runner who could remind some of Marshawn Lynch-lite.
Wide Receiver
Starters: Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett
No. 3: Jermaine Kearse
Backups: Paul Richardson, Kenny Lawler and Antwan Goodley
It’ll be interesting to see if Doug Baldwin can continue the level of production he showed last year. However, Seattle has solid depth at the position with several intriguing young options. Most are familiar with Tyler Lockett and Paul Richardson, but Antwan Goodley is a sleeper who has a ton of talent.
Tight End
Starter: Jimmy Graham
Backups: Luke Wilson and Nick Vannett
Only time will tell if Jimmy Graham can get back to his former self. The Seahawks seem set up to be ok if Graham struggles to return from his injury. Luke Wilson is a solid veteran while Nick Vannett has plenty of upside as a pass catcher.
Left Tackle
Starter: Garry Gilliam
Backups: Bradley Sowell and Terry Poole
Garry Gilliam has done a good job transition from a college tight end to an offensive tackle. However, there will be some struggles this year as he takes on a bigger challenge shifting to the left side.
Left Guard
Starter: Mark Glowinski
Backups: Rees Odhiambo and Joey Hunt
Mark Glowinski will head into training camp as the starter, but look for rookie Rees Odhiambo to make a push for the job.
Center
Starter: Justin Britt
Backups: Patrick Lewis and Joey Hunt
Justin Britt has moved from right tackle, to guard and now center. The moves were a combination of team need and Britt’s struggles at the other spots. He’s running out of positions which means this could be a make or break year.
Right Guard
Starter: Germain Ifedi
Backups: Rees Odhiambo and Joey Hunt
Seattle’s decision to move Germain Ifedi to guard was smart as that’s where he’s most effective. He struggled at tackle this past year, but looked great when playing guard early in his college career.
Right Tackle
Starter: J’Marcus Webb
Backups: Bradley Sowell and Terry Poole
J’Marcus Webb appears to have the inside track to the starting right tackle job, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there was a change by the start of the season. The fact is there really isn’t a lot of great options on the roster.
Defensive End
Starters: Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril
Backups: Chris Clemons, Cassius Marsh and Frank Clark
Overall the defensive end spot is in good hands with Bennett, Avril and Clemons. Cassius Marsh is the next in line to see action as Frank Clark appears to be moving to linebacker.
Defensive Tackle
Starters: Jordan Hill and Ahtyb Rubin
Backups: Jarran Reed, Sealver Siliga and Quinton Jefferson
It’s going to be tough for opposing offense to run up the middle against the Seahawks. They have elite run defenders such as Jordan Hill, Ahtyb Rubin and rookie Jarran Reed.
SAM Linebacker
Starter: Frank Clark
Backups: Kevin Pierre-Louis, Michael Morgan and Eric Pinkins
Word is that Frank Clark is in prime position to fill Bruce Irvin’s spot in the starting lineup. This is an interesting development as Clark has spent the major of his football career working along the defensive line.
If he fails Seattle has options with Kevin Pierre-Lous and Michael Morgan.

Starter: Bobby Wagner
Backups: Brock Coyle and Michael Morgan
Bobby Wagner doesn’t get as much media attention as other stars on this team but he’s arguably the most important defensive piece.
WILL Linebacker
Starter: KJ Wright
Backups: Kevin Pierre-Louis, Michael Morgan and Eric Pinkins
The combination of Bobby Wagner and KJ Wright is one of the best linebacker duos in the NFL. They have a proven track record and should continue to produce at a high level.
Cornerback
Starters: Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner
Nickelback: Jeremy Lane
Backups: Tharold Simon, Marcus Burley and Tye Smith
Brandon Browner is back in the fold and should play better than he did last year with the Saints. This defensive system fits his style of play and will help him get back on track. However, he’ll still have some downs as the system can only hide so much of his weaknesses.
Jeremy Lane is an underrated player who is one of the top slot-corners in the NFL.
Safety
Starters: Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas
Backups: Steven Terrell and Kelcie McCray
Not much to say about this position as both Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas are elite players.
