In College

One of the first signs of a good future NFL player is when they go to college and start right away. Amerson showed he is one of those guys in 2010, starting nine of 13 games as a true freshman. Then in 2011, his sophomore year, Amerson had the look of a Top-10 pick in the draft.

He had 13 interceptions, tying him for second-most in NCAA history, en route to the Jack Tatum Award, given to the nation’s best defensive back. Most of the players that won this award since its inception in 1991 have gone on to become first-round picks and superstars in the NFL.

Defensive backs like Terrell Buckley, Charles Woodson, Patrick Peterson Roy Williams, the late Sean Taylor, and Eric Berry are the company he’s in. And even they didn’t match the interceptions that Amerson was able to produce in his magical 2011 season.

After his junior year in 2012, Amerson entered the 2013 NFL Draft showing he had the size and athleticism to be a great corner at the 2013 NFL Scouting combine. At 6’1″, 205 pounds with 32 5/8-inch long arms, recorded a 4.4 40, a 38.5-inch vertical leap and a 6.75 three-cone drill.
