Stanford’s Johnny Caspers is looking to be another offensive lineman from that school to find success in the NFL.

Johnny Caspers is an interior offensive line prospect who has plenty of experience. He’s a solid athlete who plays with sound technique. His ability to quickly get out of his stance helps put him in proper position.

Caspers is committed to gaining inside hands in order to control the movement of the defender. His heavy hands help him Velcro to the defender and seal him from the play. Caspers uses proper footwork which provides him with leverage and balance.

His solid movement skills give him the ability to pull to the edge and reach the second level. He goes a great job taking the quickest route to the edge by hugging the line of scrimmage. This is important because it makes seem faster.

In pass protection, Caspers keeps his head on a swivel and remains balanced. He’s able to identify the most immediate threat and make the block. His wide stance helps him anchor after contact and keep pressure out of the quarterback’s face.

The concern with Caspers is that he lacks ideal length and overall size. His arm length is the biggest concern as he has some struggles keeping defenders off his frame. Caspers fights for inside placement but his lack of reach makes it a difficult task.

He may have trouble against the longer and quicker defensive tackles in the NFL. It’ll be important for him to continue to get a quick jump off the snap.

Overall, Caspers is a solid interior offensive line prospect who has a place in the NFL. There have been plenty of short-armed guards who found success at the next level. Caspers has the instincts and work ethic to put himself in position to overcome any shortcomings.
