Chicago Bears; Time for a Rebuild

Very few NFL teams succeed on a regular basis, the Chicago Bears need to completely rebuild their team if they want to compete.

The rocky road that the Bears have been traveling for quite some time now, is one major sign they need to change. Revamp this entire team from front to back, offense to defense. You keep your obvious safe bets, (Kevin White, Leonard Floyd etc.,) but the rest hit the high seas.

A rebuild isn’t a word that NFL fans want to hear leave the mouths of their GMs, however this situation alters that mentality. Teams on the decline tend to preform better once they have full rebuilds, as opposed to the minimal roster movement.

Not every team is fortunate for a Belichick-esque front office whom can make something out of nothing in every situation imaginable.

For the Bears first and foremost, they need to look to the future of their quarterback position. While Cutler has been the “man” for so long, it’s more than time for a new regime. Over Jay’s career in Chicago, little has been left to glorify on his growing resume.

As the time passed, management found perfect pieces to the offensive puzzle, Forte, Marshall and Jeffrey to name a few.

While this plan, along with numerous others, have consistently failed the organization. One is left to believe that the situation can’t get much worse, 2016 has answered that question early.

Cutler injured his thumb in week 2, sidelining him for a number of weeks. Countless other key players have succumbed to injury as well early on in the year, forcing the team to scramble.

With the ever tumultuous scenario intensifying, solutions are being searched for high and low. A legitimate crop of potential superstar quarterbacks in the upcoming 2017 draft class, will be that answer.

Several teams will be in the hunt for a new signal caller come spring time, the choices will be slim. With a top 10 pick looming large for the Bears, they absolutely must take a quarterback with that selection.

Another defensive player would be a gigantic mistake, sending supportive fans spiraling into even more of a depression.

Dealing with mediocrity is a tough thing in the NFL, just ask the majority of teams whom reach the postseason but fail to string together any kind of postseason run. Selling tickets and hovering along the average winning percentage each season is demoralizing to a club. Most importantly to a fan base.

So as the season journeys along, claiming more and more athletes to injuries. Look for the Bears to become high sellers in the league.

Don’t be shocked to see someone like Alshon Jeffrey be traded to a Super Bowl contending team. A bunch of teams would jump at the chance of adding the star wide receiver, an immediate impact player.

It will be interesting to see how many moves are made to further the success of the sinking franchise. The hay days of the 80’s and the best defensive team to ever grace the field is a far cry from what is featured in the Windy City today.

One thing is for certain, the fans of Chicago will be the new “paper bag wearing people” if nothing does change and they are forced to witness another year of playoff dreams dissolve into thin air.
