Mike Williams, WR, Clemson

Heading into the start of last year, I had Mike Williams rated as my top wide receiver prospect and potential top-10 pick. He’d be playing in the NFL right now if he didn’t suffer a neck injury in the opening game last year.

Williams is fully healthy and back to make big plays for the Clemson Tigers. He’s a rare prospect because he features a combination of excellent size and fluid movements. His ability to smoothly cut reminds me of a smaller slot receiver.

More from With the First Pick

While his fluidity is important, it’s his size and leaping ability that makes him a big-play threat. Williams routinely attacks the ball at its highest point and wins in contested situations.

He also features great body control which helps him adjust to poorly thrown balls.

Williams is the complete package as he also has the speed to take the top off a defense. His long strides and overall quickness make it tough for defensive backs to keep pace. It also helps that his smooth movements disguise his routes.

There’s a high probability that Williams is a top-10 pick in the 2017 draft and one of the first skill position players off the board.
