2. San Francisco 49ers: Mitch Trubisky, QB UNC

Don’t be shocked. Trubisky is shooting up draft boards(not just this author’s). He’s flashing some amazing skills and pro ready tools in a draft devoid of clear pro ready pocket passers.

This author is still a bigger fan of Kizer long term, but Trubisky makes a lot of sense for the 49ers. That is, if Chip Kelly stays in the NFL.

Trubisky plays in an up-tempo offense, has good short/medium arm power and mobility. He also is a good decision maker, which Kelly demands over anything else.

And with the 49ers’ current quarterback situation, they need the talent. So why him over Kizer for Kelly? Kizer appears rawer as a prospect and the Kelly(Brian) offense is far more simple.

On sheer talent, arm talent and potential Kizer is higher rated in this author’s list. But Kelly probably doesn’t have the time to develop him in San Francisco.

Trubisky probably isn’t ready week 1 for Kelly but he should be developed enough to start with in the first half of 2017.

Considering how many holes the 49ers roster has, perhaps it would be best to sit Trubisky for all of 2017. After Prescott and Wentz the fans and players might not stand for that.
