Wisconsin’s Ryan Ramczyk is an intriguing offensive tackle prospect capable of come off the board in the early rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Ryan Ramczyk has really shined during his first year with Wisconsin. He sat out the 2015 season after transferring from UW-Stevens Point. His adjustment to a higher level of competition has put him on the NFL radar.
Ramczyk is a long and well-built offensive tackle prospect. He plays with a nasty streak where he constantly works to the whistle. His aggressiveness helps him fire off the ball and fight to drive the defender down field.
He works to gain inside hands and maintain leverage. Ramczyk keeps his legs moving after contact which allows him to generate a push. His use of angles makes him even more effective and shows he knows how to push his size to his advantage.
Ramczyk is a solid athlete who can effectively reach the second level, work on the edge and get downfield on screen plays.

His ability to hold up in pass protection is the one question mark surrounding his game. He showed some issues early in the season but really turned a corner as the year progressed. The biggest thing for Ramczyk is keeping his pads down.
Due to his height, Ramczyk needs to focus on staying low and maintaining leverage. There are times where he gets to upright and exposes too much of his frame. The high pad level also hurts his balance which slows his shuffle and change of direction ability.
Wisconsin’s offensive attack heavily features the run which means Ramczyk doesn’t get a large number of opportunities in pass protection. It’s something that could slow his transition to the NFL. However, he shows the overall athletic ability and footwork needed to make that transition.
Ramczyk has plenty of tape of him protecting the edge and pushing speed rushers pass the quarterback. The key for evaluators is deciding whether or not he can do it more frequently and against better competition.
