Big Arm: Daryle Lamonica

In the ’60s, legendary Raiders owner Al Davis wanted to throw the deep ball.  It takes a quarterback with a big arm to do that so he traded for Lamonica. The deep ball scares opposing teams and opens up other things so quarterbacks that can throw it deep win.

Lamonica took the Raiders to seven AFC Championship Games, winning one on the way to Super Bowl II. He also has the second-highest winning percentage in NFL history at 78.4 percent. He dared to throw it deep on 1st-and-10 or 3rd-and-1.

That is what Carr is doing now as like Lamonica, he has a big arm and isn’t afraid to use it. Again, it doesn’t matter what down it is, the Raiders will go deep on any down with Carr. There are many that still underestimate Carr’s arm but shouldn’t.

He posted an Instagram video of himself throwing the ball 75 yards in the air. Also like Lamonica, he can throw the in-cut, the out-cut and the hook that break at 20 yards on a line. The legendary Davis is smiling down on his Raiders as Carr succeeds now.
