3.  Baltimore trades up to 8.  Carolina gets the 16th pick.  Baltimore forfeits 3rd round pick to Carolina.  Baltimore gives 2018 2nd round pick to Carolina in exchange for Carolina 2018 5th rd pick.

This one I believe is the least likely of the three, as we don’t know much about what the Ravens are looking for in the draft.  But if you ask me, a match made with Leonard Fournette to the Ravens would be ideal for them….if he’s there at 8.

The Ravens have always been a run first team, and more specifically power run.  Terrance West has been average, and Kenneth Dixon looks to take over as the change of pace back.  This holds true with an apparent departure of  FB Kyle Juszczyk, who was also important in the run game.

More from With the First Pick

With the core of their Offensive Line intact, (minus Ricky Wagner it seems), the Ravens would love to add someone with the speed and power of Fournette to their attack.  This could open up the play action for Flacco to exploit their under-performing receiving core.

For Carolina, yes they have an apparent need at running back, but they can answer this at other points in the draft.  They have other needs they will look to fill with those as well.

Moving back to 16 in the NFL Draft, they still have a possibility at landing RB Dalvin Cook.  They could opt to go with TE OJ Howard and run more two-TE sets.  This is far enough back to justify a selection of OT with their first pick as well.  You could even see a selection of S Jabrill Peppers, one of the elite corners, or a defensive end.

The possibilities for Carolina would be endless with this trade.  Not to mention that the Panthers would then have 5 picks in the top 98, and an extra 2nd round selection in 2018.  Not bad for a franchise that looks to develop from within.
