Prospect: Myles Garrett, Texas A&M

Comparison: Chandler Jones, Arizona Cardinals

Myles Garrett is an elite prospect who should be able to make an immediate impact in the NFL. He features a combination of size, quickness and effort that’s needed to routinely put pressure on the quarterback.

His style of play reminds me of Chandler Jones of the Arizona Cardinals. Both players show a passion for the game and an ability to wreak havoc in the offensive backfield. Like Jones, Garrett does a great job using his length to keep blockers off his frame.

These are two players who can fit in any scheme or defensive alignment. Jones just recently shifted from playing defensive end with the New England Patriots to outside linebacker in Arizona. Garrett has the skills to make similar adjustments.

The one difference is how they were seen at the time they entered the draft. Jones was a bit rawer as a player and someone that needed time to develop. That’s why he slipped to the middle of the 1st round. Garrett is a more polished prospect and ready to contribute right away.

It seems like a virtual lock that Garrett will be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Cleveland Browns have not been shy regarding their love for him as a prospect.
