2017 NFL Draft: Louisiana Tech Carlos Henderson Scouting Report
By Jon Dove
Louisiana Tech’s Carlos Henderson is a rising receiver prospect who features the ability to produce big plays on a regular basis.
Carlos Henderson is a shorter but well-built wide receiver prospect. He features excellent quickness and the shiftiness to create in space. This is someone that an offensive coordinator will work to get the ball into his hands.
A large majority of Henderson’s catches came on screen passes and underneath throws. He was able to turn those short passes into big plays thanks to make defenders miss. Henderson can start/stop in a hurry and easily change direction.

He really makes it difficult for a defender to get a clean hit. His experience as a running back is something that helped him hone these skills.
As a pass catcher, Henderson needs some more reps and time to develop. He has a limited route tree, catches too many balls against his body and struggles reading a defense. These are areas of concern, but are also things that can be corrected with experience and better coaching.
His potential as a receiver is something that flashes often. He is an aggressive player who will fight through contact and high-point the football. Henderson shows naturally strong hands and the ability to pluck it away from his frame.
He also doesn’t hesitate to work over the middle and take a big hit. His style of play speaks to someone who can be used in multiple systems and positions.
Henderson brings added versatility as a kick return where he shows home-run potential. It’s possible this is where he makes his mark early in his career. Contributing on special teams will allow him to see the field while he improves as a receiver.
