Philadelphia Eagles 2017 NFL Mock Draft: Mid-April Update
By Jon Dove
1st Round (No. 14)- Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford
The Philadelphia Eagles should be in great position to address one of their top needs at pick No. 14. In this mock draft, I gave them the ultra-versatile Christian McCaffrey to help Carson Wentz. McCaffrey is an explosive athlete capable of scoring every time he touches the football.

He’s an underrated runner who can pick up yards using both his speed and power. McCaffrey will never be a true power-back but gains enough momentum to move the pile.
It’s his pass catching ability that really stands out and makes him an elite prospect. McCaffrey runs routes like a wide receiver and creates after the catch. A young quarterback like Wentz would get a lot of value from someone capable of turning a dump pass into a big gain.
Philadelphia can’t rely on last year’s duo of Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles to be major contributors.
The other top option with this pick is targeting one of the highly talented cornerbacks. Some of the names that could be available include Gareon Conley, Quincy Wilson, Tre’Davious White and Marlon Humphrey.
Selecting one of these cornerbacks or McCaffrey would give the Eagles an immediate starter with tons of upside.
