17. Detroit Lions

Key Additions: Ricky Wagner, T.J. Lang, Jarrad Davis, Teez Tabor, Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Brad Kaaya

Key Losses: Riley Reiff, Larry Warford, DeAndre Levy

The Detroit Lions splash free agent signings are more lateral moves because Ricky Wagner and T.J. Lang are replacing departing free agents. It’s really a matter of opinion if the Wagner and Lang combination is better than Riley Reiff and Larry Warford.

More from With the First Pick

However, it is important to note that the Lions made the offensive line a priority and should suffer any setbacks.

This offense revolves around Matthew Stafford whose coming off the best year of his career. He appears to have great command of Jim Bob Cooter’s offensive attack. However, he does need some more from his weapons.

Marvin Jones needs to put together a complete season. The running game needs Ameer Abdullah to stay healthy and produce. It would also be nice if Eric Ebron takes another step forward in his development.

Detroit’s defense won’t look much different from last year’s group. They moved on from the oft-injured DeAndre Levy replacing him with rookie Jarrad Davis. Teez Tabor will be asked to play an important role early in his career.

Overall, this team looks similar to last year which was that made a playoff appearance.
