Ohio State’s Mike Weber is well-rounded running back prospect who doesn’t offer as much upside as the other backs in the 2018 NFL Draft Class.
Mike Weber is a down-hill runner who is capable of working north and south. He’s at his best working between the tackles and making cuts in the hole. His balance as a runner helps him make seamless change in direction.
He shows good vision which helps him locate running lanes and work through traffic. His running style won’t be a fit for every type of offense.

Weber shows consistency when it comes to running through arm tackles. It’s his balance and north-south running style that makes this possible. However, he shouldn’t be seen as a power runner as he doesn’t consistently move the pile.
He tends to run upright and not behind his pads. This limits his ability to break tackles and pick up yards after contact.
Weber isn’t someone that shows good home-run ability. He lacks the burst and juice needed to outpace defensive angles. Weber also doesn’t press the hole quick enough which leads to tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
He brings some value in the passing game where he shows good hands. Weber routinely plucks the ball away from his frame and can run solid routes from the slot. He’s someone who will get involved in pass protection which will help keep him on the field.
Overall, Weber is a solid college player who lacks the “it” factor NFL teams look for in a runner. He just isn’t quick enough to consistently gain positive yardage. His pass-catching ability is the one area that could help him land on an NFL roster.
