Biggest Risks

Garett Bolles was my highest rated offensive tackle in the 2017 NFL Draft. His size, athleticism and nastiness gives him all the traits to succeed. Bolles has an extremely bright future, but there is some uncertainty surrounding his future.

He will be a 25-year old rookie which will obviously shorten the time he has in the league. This past year was his only season playing against a high-level of competition. Bolles’ rough past seems to be behind him, but that isn’t a complete certainty.

More from With the First Pick

The Broncos will be throwing Bolles into a pressure situation where he’ll be expected to perform. This is a team with Super Bowl aspirations and need Bolles to play at a high level to accomplish that goal.

It’s always a risk to rely so heavily on a rookie offensive tackle. Things get cloudier when that rookie doesn’t have much experience. He will have his share of growing pains and how he reacts could greatly impact his overall development.

The 2017 draft had a ton of talent at the cornerback position. Denver decided to take a bit of a risk by drafting Lamar’s Brendan Langley. It’s always a bit of a wildcard situation when a prospect is asked to go from a smaller school to facing NFL-level competition.
