1. New York Jets- Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming

The New York Jets find themselves in a tricky situation at the quarterback position. They recently used a 2nd round pick on Christian Hackenberg who, by all accounts, looks nowhere near ready to take the field. This is one of the reasons the team signed veteran Josh McCown.

More from With the First Pick

At this point, it’s clear that neither player is the quarterback of the future. The situation is made worse by the fact the rest of the roster doesn’t have a ton of talent. This team looks poised to challenge for the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Luckily, this year’s draft is rich in quarterback talent. There are three quarterbacks getting top-pick hype in Wyoming’s Josh Allen, USC’s Sam Darnold and UCLA’s Josh Rosen.

Each of these prospects have tremendous upside, but Allen has the edge on my Big Board. He features a live arm, good size and athleticism. Allen can be a bit of a gunslinger but gets results. The fact that he plays at Wyoming shouldn’t hurt his draft stock.

Wyoming has played more than a handful of games against some solid competition. Just this past year they faced Boise State, Nebraska and BYU.

Allen is the type of quarterback the Jets can build around. His talent truly creates a buzz and will bring some optimism to the franchise.
