5. Los Angeles Rams- Minkah Fitzpatrick, CB, Alabama

The Los Angeles Rams have needs on both sides of the ball which basically means they can target the best player available. Alabama’s Minkah Fitzpatrick is a highly athletic and instinctive cornerback who should make an immediate impact.

More from With the First Pick

Fitzpatrick will enter the NFL with tons of experience playing against high-level competition. He also knows what it feels like to deal with pressure. The Alabama product won’t be afraid to take on NFL competition.

Los Angeles has a need even with Trumaine Johnson on the roster whose contract situation is very fluid. Fitzpatrick would represent either a replacement for Johnson or the perfect fit on the opposite side.

While adding Fitzpatrick would be nice, the Rams really need to find some offensive playmakers. They head into another year with limited options at the wide receiver position. It’s not a great situation for a franchise trying to develop former No. 1 pick Jared Goff.

Ideally, Alabama’s Calvin Ridley would still be on the board, but in this mock he went No. 3 overall. He’s the only receiver prospect who has earned top-10 hype at this point in the process. Others like Texas A&M’s Christian Kirk and Oklahoma State’s James Washington have more to prove.
