Jeremy Maclin was recently released by the Kansas City Chiefs and became a sought after free agent for several teams. After an intense recruitment by the Buffalo Bills, Maclin has chosen instead to sign with the Baltimore Ravens.
Maclin’s release by the Kansas Chiefs was a shocking move. He was signed just two years prior to be their number one receiver but the Chiefs decided to move on. However, the Baltimore Ravens had a big need at wide receiver and Maclin is a nice addition to their offense.
The Baltimore Ravens needed someone to come in and take the place of the retired Steve Smith Sr. The Ravens also lost Kamar Aiken in free agency and tight end Dennis Pitta was lost with a hip injury. So Jeremy Maclin’s signing makes all the more sense.
Mike Wallace is the top returning receiver for the Ravens and he and Maclin should compliment each other very well. They also have the up and coming Breshad Perriman to give the Ravens good three-man group of receivers.

Maclin had a lot of contacts and friendships with the Buffalo Bills but the better fit is with the Ravens. Joe Flacco is a Super Bowl winning quarterback and when he has talent around him, he’s capable of putting up big numbers. That had to appeal to Maclin.

Also, the winning tradition of the Baltimore Ravens probably played a factor with Jeremy Maclin as well. Head coach John Harbaugh has the Ravens in the playoff mix nearly every year and they obviously convinced Maclin that he could be a key piece to them winning the AFC North.
